The J. B. Boda Group was founded by our Chairman Mr. Jagmohandas Bhagwandas Boda, way back in 1943. He set out from the small coastal town of Porbandar (Gujarat State) to Mumbai, the bustling commercial hub of India, to start “Reinsurance Broking” operations with his brother Late Mr. Dhirajlal Bhagwandas Boda. Their hardcore professionalism, high standards of conduct and reputation of fair dealings enabled them to develop an organisation of respectable size from a relatively modest beginning. They pioneered Reinsurance Broking in India and today, J. B. Boda Group is the largest Reinsurance Broker in India and Developing Countries, and the Indian Multinational Reinsurance Broking House operating for more than six decades. Late Mr. Bharat J. Boda was the third Chairman following his late father Mr. Jagmohandas B. Boda, the founder Chairman and late uncle Mr. Dhirajlal B. Boda. He was also the President of the Insurance Brokers Association of India (IBAI) since its reconstitution in the year 2001.

The vision in Reinsurance Broking was pursued and this led to opening of overseas offices in Singapore, London, Nepal, Dubai, and Kenya. The Group Company in London viz; J. B. Boda & Co., (U.K.) Ltd., was accredited by LLOYD’s in December 2002 - the First Indian Broker to achieve this recognition. The Group in its reinsurance broking activities is associated with over 300 companies in 80 countries worldwide. One thing led to another and J. B. Boda Group started ancillary services such as Protection & Indemnity (P&I), highly skilled technical Offshore/On-shore Surveys, Asset Valuation, etc.
With the changing Indian Insurance Industry scenario and particularly the nationalisation of general insurance business in 1971, J. B. Boda envisaged the need to develop professional Fire, Marine (Hull & Cargo), Engineering, Container, Oil and other related Surveys and thus the Group ventured into opening a Survey company in 1971 titled as J. B. Boda Insurance Surveyors & Loss Assessors Private Limited. With the continuing growth of the survey activities, the Group has today 23 offices in India, located at all the major ports, important minor ports and principal inland cities. The Group, with its offerings in the various services, employs today over 1250 personnel in India and Overseas which includes Master Mariners, Naval Architects, Licensed Surveyors, Risk Management Professionals, Chartered Accountants and Valuers.
