Job Purpose:
The Financial Analyst is accountable for delivery and monitoringRetail Segment strategic plan, annual plan performance management and detailed analysis by activity.
Main responsibilities include planning, forecasting, performance management and analyses in support of the businesses; identifying opportunities and risk as well as, and more importantly, driving business results. He / she will be expected to utilize their accounting and financial background to provide financial advice to their respective business partners. As a result, he / she should possess the interpersonal skills necessary to function effectively as an ambassador and service provider while maintaining fiduciary responsibilities.
Principal Accountabilities:
1. Strategy Planning & Budgeting
·Create updates & monitoring retail segment strategic plan in partnership with the retail segment management team.
·Create annual plan in partnership with the retail segment management team.
·Support monthly P&L review process by recapping actual sales and margin results versus plan, preparing monthly variance reports for business owners, and analyzing key performance drivers
·Participate in long range financial planning process
·Present findings to corporate management that focus on Year-over-year changes, key operating metrics, and any key points or drivers that were influential in the creation of the plan
2. Performance Management at Segment & Business Unit Level
Balanced Scorecard
·Lead and facilitate the development, update, alignment and communication of the Balanced Scorecard for Segment & Business Unit levels
·Facilitates the development of the Segment & Business Units BSC Agreements
·Responsible for timely and accurate preparation of BSC resultsreview and discuss with BUs and Management for presentation in QPRM & YPRM
·Analyses and computes actual performance trends to identify opportunities for improvement
·Works with various internal stakeholders to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of PM processes and reporting.
Collaborate with Planning to develop Annual KPI’s that incorporate current business
·trends and business strategies
·Quantify and articulate risks and opportunities in achieving KPI’s and prepare quarterly “cause of change” reports related to these KPI’s
·Train and develop Balanced Score Card co-ordinators in preparing quarterly performance reports
·Supports ad-hoc tasks in the development of changes in Performance management
·Coordinates with external stakeholders and best practice organisations to benchmark the PM processes
·Improve the awareness of balanced scorecard concept within Retail Team.
Performance Agreement
·Works in developing and updating RBS MD performance agreement & results
·Support Business Units in developing and updating their Performance Agreement
1. Forecasting
·Collaborate with Planning to develop monthly financial forecasts that incorporate current business trends and business strategies
·Quantify and articulate risks and opportunities in achieving forecasts and prepare quarterly “cause of change” reports related to these forecasts
·Create ad-hoc forecasts as needed during key periods (i.e. promotions/activities) to provide insights into areas of risk and opportunity and influence business strategies
2. Analysis
·Develop and maintain cross-functional relationships with key retail team Planning business partners to ensure alignment on strategies to maximize financial results
·Conduct ad-hoc analyses and build financial models to inform merchandising strategies, investment recommendations, and new business opportunities
·Proactively identify opportunities to improve efficiency in core Finance processes, to
analyse the business from new value-added perspectives, and to enhance the strategic
roleof Finance in the organization
3. Accounting Support
·Monitor P&L lines during monthly financial close; be able to discuss variances to forecast
·Conduct research as needed during monthly financial close
·Prepare, reconcile monthly revenue recognition & operating cost per activities
· Special Assignments
Assist the Manager Business Analysis & Decision Support with ad hoc strategic projects and special assignments.
Supports Corporate Initiatives in line with direction received (Knowledge Management, Innovate, Energy Savings, etc.)
Minimum requirements
·Educational Qualification: Professional Qualification in finance or graduate subject to below experience.
·Experience: 5 to 8 years of professional qualification or 4 to 6 years of graduation qualification.
·System Skills: ERP system exposure, MS Office, Data Modelling, Cognos BI/Planning/contributor and CPAY.
·Inter Personal Skills: Excellent
·Communication Skills: Excellent
